The garden of GIM House
The garden surrounding GIM House has a special artistic atmosphere and microclimate. Both the GIM House and the Handicraft Workshop Gödöllő convey the former Art Colony's artistic intellectuality for the visitor. The garden was an important site for the artists of the Art Colony. Lead by an artistic vision the garden was transformed into a work of art. Aunt Ilka's (Aladár Körösfői Kriesch's wife) garden is mentioned in numerous literary sources. Erzsébet Katona Szabó, director of the Handicraft Workshop Gödöllő and winner of Noémi Ferenczy prize, a textile artist made the garden into a "garden of three colors". Gold, silver and red are the colors of plants flowering in different seasons and giving the garden a special artistic atmosphere in memory of the hundred-year-old Art Colony. The tree of the Art Colony, a red oak, stands right in the middle of the garden. Its leaves turn red on the commemorative day of the opening of GIM House in October. The tree was donated by the citizens of Gödöllő and planted in 2002. The garden is also an exhibition site, so both art lovers and garden admirers will find a unique experience visiting it.
